Gavin was not too fond of the idea of using the potty. I seriously began to have visions of him heading to kindergarten in pull-ups. We didn't really try until Gavin turned three.
We thought he was showing some interest when he said diapers were for babies and he wanted to wear underwear. Then he informed us that it was okay to poop in his underwear because we could "just change it." We tried every tip, trick, bribe, positive reinforcement, praise, bribe, modeling, book, bribe, video, bribe, cool underwear, etc. we could think of. Gavin decided that it was just so much easier if mom and dad handled his business f
or him!
or him! Someone told me to "just let him sit in it for a while," thinking he might be motivated by the discomfort. Not my little Gavin! He did not care one bit (and I will spare you the gory details!).
Someone told me to wash his buns off with the hose, thinking he wouldn't like that..... uh.... not Gavin!
I am not sure what happened. One day.... out of the blue.... the clouds parted and I saw a flash of light.... it was Gavin, making a mad dash to the toilet. I could not believe my eyes!
Well, in the midst of our bribery, we promised Gavin a "potty party" themed with his new favorite character "Dash." Last night was the big night and Gavin was THRILLED! We are so proud of him.

Yay!! Way to go Dash...I mean Gavin!! :)
If I can get a sweet cake like that, I'd be willing to poop my pants for a couple weeks
